The Sign of Spring.

According to my Lecturer, Jacaranda (Fam. Bignoniaceae) almost became the signature tree of Brisbane. Hmm... in case you're wondering if I have made a mistake stating Spring, its really spring here in Australia. The Winter is in July because Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere and other Ang mos countries for exmple Great Britain in the Northern Hemisphere.

Craving No. 2 - Fulfilled !!!

hmm...Bah Gu Teh !!! Finally we managed to cook ourselves this delicious meal of Bah Gu Teh. 100Points for my dear for bringing over the soup mixed. woo.. the hot pepper soup and that AirPork (oz pork ribs) that gave warmth to the tummy, such good feeling which no other angmo food here can match up to. hee... Well guess it is true that we will only appreciate the local delights of Singapore when we are away from home. Hmm... I wonder what will we be making next? I got crave for roti prata but here no sell leh and those instant one are just no match for the authentic ones. I'm going to eat all I can when I return home for vacation at the end of year.

If I'm in Singapore

If only, I'm in Singapore I will definitely support this local film. Looks interesting and very heartland. Too bad a lot of "fake potatoes" (ge ang mo) Singaporeans chose to watch an american blockbuster over a local production. So is it true that the moon is rounder and bigger else where? hmm.... Or should we all start looking into ourselves to see what we all really are?If you're a Singaporeans whether you like it or not, we were born & raised in this island nation.

A Walk in the garden

We had a walk around the botanic garden the other day. This is part of my plantscape elective's exercise. ha-ha. it was interesting to learn new things about plants. It isn't easy, I'm alreadt struggling with the pronoucning of the botantical names of various species n families. Will I even be able to learn all about plants? I doubt so. I asked one of the lecturer how long will it take to master and be proficent in plants knowledge? He told me its ongoing and he has been in this field for 30 years and he is still learning. ha-ha guess it affirms the saying that there is no end to learning. So we are never too old to learn new knowledge unless it is us who give up learning. Tis is a good time of learning for me though my major is architecture. I'm now also interested in learning more about our green friends. I'm a slow learner guess thats no way I can snarf alot of info into that brain of mine, I'm just going to take my time in this life long learning process.

"Crikey" - Steve Irwin

Australian zoologist Steve Irwin's quiet visit to Singapore Zoo in 2005 and welcome reception by Ah Meng. It was really a shock to learn that he was killed in action by a stringray. Will there be another Steve Irwin? Someone like him is pretty hard to come by these days and hopeful more modern youth with the passion in environmental issues will take up the challenge. Surely Steve Irwin's work will not end here but will continue on. A truely sad day to remember and that's why we should make the best of our everyday for tomolo will always be unknown. images from http://www.crocodilerescue.com

Our 1st RiverFire experience @ the River Festival of Brisbane City. The State of Queensland celebrates the arrival of spring. The Show is an annual event and it always begin with the approaching of F1 Fighter Jets blasting off their afterburners.

It was a good show and it made us miss the fire works back home. ha-ha and we will miss that for the next few years now that we are going to be here living+studying in the years to come.
